Music

The music program at Brandon Academy is designed to instill great excitement for all forms of music and give the student a working knowledge of music.  This promotes creativity while presenting the basic music principles sequentially and age appropriate.  Movement, rhythmic chants, singing and playing pitched and un-pitched instruments are the means in which these principles are taught.  Music theory and the lives and compositions of famous composers are sequentially presented to all grades.  When possible thematic units are used to assist in an area being covered in the classroom

Students begin taking Music in PK3 & JK who meet weekly for two quarters during the school year.  For students in grades K-5, the class meets twice a week for two quarter.  Also offered to 2nd –5th grades is a Half Notes chorus group that meets after- school once a week.  This group has opportunity to perform throughout the year around town and in the spring perform at Disney World along with other performances during the school year.

For students in middle school, music is an elective called Total Sound that meets daily for a semester.  This class allows students to continue and enhance their music appreciation journey.  This elective performs at school functions such as Grandparents Day and the Holiday Show.  They also perform outside school at places such as Disney's "America Sings" and the Brandon Mall.
